Note: All non-Windows machine keys are case sensitive.
Any machine, server or workstation, that accesses the TaxFactory database must have a machine key installed.
Before uploading the install license, the machine key must be saved as a file on the CGI server and/or PC working directory.
Note: If not installed, the generated machine key will be invalid after a period of five days. However once installed, it will not need to be reinstalled as long as the TaxFactory database is not reinstalled.
The license is installed with the tf10lic tool using a command line. The tf10lic tool is shipped with the product in both the client and server components.
Execute the command: tf10lic -i filename.

This must be executed from the specific machine that the machine key was created for. If the machine key file is not located in the same location as the tf10lic command file, you will need include the appropriate path for the location of this file.
A message will display indicating that the license installed successfully. Below the message, the Host Name, Host ID or Serial number, and TF10 Database are displayed.
* To identify your system's Host Name, Host ID or Serial number execute the tf10lic command with the '-v' option. The information returned contains the text that you must enter when creating your unique machine key. This information is case-sensitive and requires any spaces, where applicable.
Note: On systems without a proper Host ID, please do not specify one. Solaris, AIX, and iSeries have an identifiable Host ID. Linux (intel based), Windows and DEC lack a Host ID on the system, so they don't have a Host ID.
For example: $ uname -a
AIX RS6K2 1 5 000C6F0F4C00
^Hostname ^Host serial number. Where hostname is RS6k2 and where host serial number is 000C6F0F4000.
The Windows server host name can be obtained from the DOS command prompt on the server with the "hostname" command.
For example: c:\hostname
NTSERVER1
The iSeries server Host ID can be obtained from the command prompt on the server with the "dspsysval" command and "QSRLNBR" parameter. You can also use the tf10lic command with the '-v' parameter to identify both the iSeries Host Name and Host ID values.
For example: dspsysval parm(qsrlnbr)
-OR-
call pgm(tf10lic) parm('-v')
